November 23; The Dash Band pick up 1st prize in the Harry's Bar 2009 Suzhou Battle Of The Bands!
After a very full year, the climax of our gigs, the 2009 Suzhou Battle Of The Bands, was a great 'win' for the band . The band lineup for the night included Jimmy Dash on vocals, Dave Matthews on lead guitar, Aaron Kraft on bass guitar, Pete 'Sox' McConnell on drums and Beijinger Woodie Wu on harmonica. The competition consisted of two rounds with seven bands competing for a total of RMB20,000 in prize money. The final round saw Dash Band select two great songs; leading with a Muddy Waters classic "Hoochie Coochie Man" and nailing it with the Dash Band's own arrangement of a JJ Cale number "Tijuana". Dash Band have been broadening their blues repertoire with great hits such the Ray Charles classic "I Got A Woman", several Wilson Pickett numbers such as Mustang Sally and In The Midnight Hour, and a number of great old time favorites!
Saturday evenings, you are invited to join Jimmy Dash and The Dash Band for great live music with a repertoire of classic blues, country and rock with many new songs by Hank Williams, Dire Straits, Elvis Presley, BB King, Iggy Pop and led Zeppelin to rock you!
Big blues favorites such as Key To The Highway, Got My Mojo Workin', Rollin' And Tumblin', Anyway The Wind Blows, Dust My Broom, Call Me The Breeze, Cajun Moon are on the current set list! ZZ Top hits such as Sharp Dressed Man, La Grange and Legs fill out the repertoire! JJ Cale classics such as After Midnight and Cocaine are always a favorite with our audience.

repertoire of blues and country rock featuring music by Eric Clapton,
J. J. Cale, Johnny Cash and some great Irish bar songs. Q's is located at 55 Shi
Quan Jie (Bar Street), the first bar at the East end
just after the bridge from SIP! Q's Club is fast becoming the 'hub' of the live
music scene in Suzhou with different live bands playing on many nights of the week; you will find Chinese bands on Wednesdays
including an all girl band, mixed bands on Fridays and the Dash Band
and Mafan playing alternating Saturday's. Additionally, there is an
Open Mic night on both Sunday and Wednesday evenings. Q's Club has also
become a 'basement' venue for many very talented musicians and every
week sees a new 'surprise' walk in the door. Guitarists such as
Daniel Mist (England) and Rich Moreton (England), are two examples of excellent solo artists!
.May 2; Suzhou Street Party
A weekend promotion by Suzhou City to promote the ever popular but rapidly changing Shi Quan Jie shopping and entertainment street in Suzhou; previously a seedy late night bar street, Shi Quan Jie has moved forward with the increasing sophistication of Suzhou residents and visitors! With improved shopping, international fashion outlets, restaurants featuring food from all over the World... and yes, the bars and discos! However, most of the establishments on this tree lined avenue have been upgraded to high standards for both families looking for a fun day as well as some of the best night life in the city!
April 4, 25; Q's Club Bar

Additionally, this day is celebrated in Spain (in the Catalonia / Barcelona Region) where St. George is their patron Saint. You may remember St. George! He saved the maiden by slaying the dragon!

of great Irish bar songs from the Dubliners, The Pogues including those traditional classics such as Whiskey In The Jar, Wild Rover, Seven Drunken Nights... then followed by the timeless blues of Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry... and country rock
featuring music by Eric Clapton, J. J. Cale, Johnny Cash and other

January 1, 2009!
We closed out the year at Harry's Bar in style with Suzhou's best live music, laughter, fun, fireworks and of course, our friends! So wishing you all a very happy 2009 and looking forward to seeing you soon in Harry's Bar (the Late Show), Q's Club on published dates (see above), the Bookworm on Wednesdays (phone numbers at the bottom of this page)... and at a few other venues as announced above!The famous Harry's Bar on Lin Dun Lu (near Guan Qian) is now re-opened after extensive renovations. A special New Year's Eve party will be held on 31st December, and the talented 'Too Match Band' will, as they always do, perform their wide repertoire of classic rock - the show starts at 9.00pm so get there early if you want to get a seat (and a party hat!). It's always a great way to meet old and new friends. The best party in town! And remember, if you miss the party, come back Monday to Saturday at 9pm until late for the most fun, movin' and grovin' in town!

Suzhou's best Mexican Restaurant & Bar will feature The Dash Band at their Christmas Eve and Christmas Day festive dinner show... vocalist Jimmy Dash and The Dash Band have a repertoire of blues and country rock featuring music by Eric Clapton, J. J. Cale, Johnny Cash and other great legends. Casa Zoe is located on Xing Han Jie just off Su Hui Lu (about 500m North of Starbucks).
December 18, 2008 - Harry's Bar

joined by ex-Ma Fan vocalist Jimmy Dash and The Dash Band with a repertoire of blues and country rock featuring music by Eric Clapton, J. J. Cale, Johnny Cash and other great legends. Q's is located on Shi Quan Jie (Bar Street) at the East end just before the bridge!

December 5-6, 2008 European Association Suzhou Music Festival

European Association in Suzhou) Annual Music Festival co-sponsored by Blue Marlin for a great weekend of food, wines,
beers and great music from 6 live bands including Cross Culture from

This year is the 4th year for this festival which has proved to be the
music event of the year for a large cross-section of expatriates and
locals alike! Starting at mid-day on each day, with a festive brunch,
great live music and many fun events for all ages. Finishing late into
the evening with live music performances, dancing and some great fun in
true European style!
All Year - Music Every Wednesday
Get yourself down to The Bookworm at around 8pm for their weekly 'Jam Session' of
local expatriate and Chinese musicians and singers... you never know
who will turn up and the talent that walks through that door is always
sure recipe for a great evening! Don't miss Wang & Sean as they
create East-West music fusion! And Joe's Jazz Trio is usually pumping
out the jazz classics in true Bourbon Street style!
